Climb For Cancer

Our Dad has been an avid cyclist his entire life. He actually gave up racing when we were young children as he was worried about spending too much of his time training and racing. But he continued to ride....
In the summer of 2011, my parents were working and living in Romania when my Dad got very sick. He was rushed to the hospital and given a life saving blood transfusion and then flown straight back to England where he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

After many rounds of chemo and lots of ups and downs he went into remission and was on a chemo maintenance program. He started cycling again as soon as he could and planned a cycling trip to the French Alps with James (my eldest brother) for this summer. James lives in Australia, so this is no small feat!! But he takes after Dad with the whole cycling gene and is, if possible, an even more avid cyclist than Dad is!! And they began training in earnest...

But in April 2013, the Leukemia returned and he is currently climbing different mountains.

James talked to Dad and to Dad's haematologist (Dr Robinson) and decided to go ahead with the ride in the Alps this summer, but make it more challenging by climbing 10,000m of mountains in FIVE days.....thats a total higher than Mount Everest!! And in doing so support Dad by raising money for the hospital and doctors that are working so hard to help him as he fights the Leukemia.

James visited us here in AZ this weekend and rented a bike to keep up with his training.....Daniel went with him on Friday and couldn't quite keep up...he said James was "flying" (but Daniel did make it to the top of the very steep hill and Uncle JJ was most impressed with him!!) Saturday morning he was on his own...no volunteers:) He got back kinda hot and sweaty (it is about 100 degrees here already) and ready to jump in the pool....

We love you Uncle JJ:)
If you can help by donating any amount, our family would be so grateful.
Thanks for the support x
