Way back when.......before kids and looking after a home and a husband....I actually used to write poems a lot (I'll leave it to my remembrance how good they actually were!). I think I lost them all along with my "lamb" and a bunch of other sentimental stuff when we moved from Plymouth to Kingston.....but for our anniversary this year and for the first time in a number of years, I dusted off my poetic skills and here is the outcome:)
Remember….
Those first weeks when we were ‘cool’
Then came a flat, a cottage, work and school
Parks, beaches, Aggies in the snow
Feeding the ducks wherever we go
Faxes and phone calls, walking on the moor,
Carrying laundry, riding bikes to the store
Walking to work, serving at church
I’m glad it was you who ended my search.
Meeting for lunch, our micra so white
I guess (to be truthful), there was the odd fight
One boy then two, a girl, then one more
How did we ever make it to four?
From England to Watercolor, Arizona, Niagra Falls
Lots of road trips and frequent ‘nature calls’
We’ve laughed and we’ve talked and we’ve shared such a lot
Sometimes I forget all that we’ve got
Life gets so busy – I don’t do it enough
Reflect on the memories, the great (and the tough)
There’s not a thing I would change, replace or renew
Because everything has led us to here - me and you.
I’m grateful for our life, your love and the laughter
This is my fairytale ‘happily ever after’
